❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the difference between Happo-one, GALA Yuzawa, and Karuizawa?

A: Happo-one is Japan's premier powder snow destination with the largest scale, best snow quality, and longest operating season. Suitable for intermediate to advanced skiers. GALA Yuzawa is best for day trips, Karuizawa is suitable for beginners and shopping, while Happo-one is the first choice for serious skiers.

Q: Can I participate without skiing experience?

A: Yes! Happo-one has 30% beginner slopes and a dedicated beginner area "Happo Debut Area". However, we strongly recommend adding a lesson for beginners, starting from the beginner area.

Q: Why is Happo-one more expensive than other ski resorts?

A: Because it requires Shinkansen + bus transfer with longer travel time (about 3.5 hours). However, Happo-one is Japan's premier ski resort with the best snow quality, scale, and scenery, and holds special significance as an Olympics venue. Excellent value for money!

Q: Can I do a same-day round trip?

A: Yes, but quite tiring. One-way takes about 3.5 hours, plus skiing time makes for a very packed day. We recommend staying at least one night to fully enjoy Hakuba area's hot springs and cuisine.

Q: Are there other ski resorts in Hakuba area?

A: Yes! Hakuba area (HAKUBA VALLEY) has 10 ski resorts in total. If you purchase the HAKUBA VALLEY multi-resort pass, you can ski at all resorts. Happo-one is the largest and most famous among them.

Q: When is the snow quality best?

A: Late January to February is when snow is most abundant with the best quality. March brings spring snow season with warmer temperatures and plenty of sunshine, also very popular.

Q: Is there English language service?

A: The resort primarily uses Japanese and English. We strongly recommend booking an English-speaking guide service, especially for first-time visitors to Hakuba area. Guides can assist with all aspects including transportation, rentals, and ticketing.
